on the fence
Can someone tell me what camera system should I be getting?
I'm looking for a camera that can do these:
- quick and accurate auto focus
- clean sharp images
- fast (shot to shot, setting changing)
- nice to grip
- accurate white balance

you know... if you were anyone else, I'd ask you to go ask Philip Ong...
Dude, what is your budget? If your budget is quite big then I would recommend the Nikon D80 or else you might consider getting the Canon 400D.
chee eng, yeah you are right..but even i get confused...
mark, the prob is i don't even have enough money..but ofcourse i would like a good one that i can continue to use for many years. having something in mind gives me the motivation to save up though..
if yr going for canon, prepare for expensive lenses, olympus range of cameras are quite good though. I can give you this guy's website ,he's a freelance photographer, a good one too.. you can ask him.

thanx though for the offer..
Hey Philip!
My arts faculty recently purchased Sony DSC-R1 and it's pretty good. It isn't a DSLR but the lens is pretty good and focusing is quite fast too. Reviews seem quite promising as well. It might be a bit pricy, but I've heard that getting a lens that good might cost you a lot more. Besides, that model was released a long time ago. You might be able to get a good price on it now.
Do check it out. I've handled it for a little while and it seems quite sturdy as well.
OR you could just get D40X. Hahaha. :P
heard they say the d40 or d40x is a conman's job..because of the motor and the lack of compatible/cheaper lenses..not sure, that's what i heard.. haha! ah.. knowledge in SLR's is still shallow...
