Reaching Young People for God

Today's sermon moved me to tears. It has been some time since the last time I was so strongly moved by a sermon in church. I was also the first time I was really moved in a year, to tears that is. Pastor Foo talked about the burgeoning problem of the lask of attention given to the youths of today. The seclusion of youths from the plans and implemented plans of the church today poses a great risk of monumentalising the church. Senior Pastor Daniel Ho spoke in a recorded video shootage regarding the lack of focus in this area that would result in the next generation in church becoming a monument. Not that this monument would glorify God in any way. It is an eye sore. Maybe more than that, a heart ache fueled by disappointments.

Powerful was the message, more powerful is the source. I believe this message challenging many of us was from God. Maybe I should use 'is' instead of 'was' to represent a perpetual message from God to all. Present and not the past. Put aside the prophesies that people speak off regarding the youths as the ignition for revival. I undoubtly think that prayer and commitment to God would ignite the fire for revival. Ofcourse, passion, love, obedience and faith all play a major role in bringing about revival. Discipline has always been the primary obstacle. Many a time we are distracted by our surroundings. Luke 12:54-56 talks about the cross hair focusing on the wrong target. Many of us get excited when the tsunami happened, when earthquakes shook the earth but we do not see what lies ahead in times to come. Are all this natural disasters more important that the plans that God have? God seeks us, His hands to do His work not that He can't do it but He wants us as heirs and co-heirs with Christ to share this significant events. In order that we may share a dream and live in a reality of achieving dreams that God has dreamt. Dreaming a dream that is attainable will save us the disappointments that would discourage us to press on for the goal that lies ahead.

Friends, if you are still reading this, continue reading. I would like to challenge you in all your capacity to press on in your studies, pursuing true friendships, pursuing godliness, seeking for a purpose in life and other things which are beneficial. Of all this, I believe purpose in life is most important. Having purpose means knowing your direction, having the end in mind constitutes to you being able to share the dreams that God has. Your allowance would render the dream a reality. Keep dreaming, keep realising.

One thing I have to say, it is indeed very sad to see that something drastic has to happen to people before coming to God such as the tsunami and 9/11 for USA. And a month after that, our lives returns to the norm of how we live, and the people carrying the name "Christian" goes back to fading and looking like people around them, silence once again without words of truth.
